It is essential to not only protect your website against outside attacks, but also against hardware failure and accidental deletes. If you host your website with us, regular backups and content management system (CMS) upgrades are included as standard.
The data centre backs up the server twice daily and keeps these backups for 14 days. This means that if you accidentally delete something, it will be possible to restore from any of these backups. We also specifically backup databases and important files daily and weekly. Daily backups are kept for a week and overwritten weekly; weekly backups are kept for at least 2 months.
CMS upgrades are important for the security of the server and all websites hosted on it. Some upgrades are solely security updates and some bring new features to the CMS. We will always give you plenty of notice before running any upgrades as you will need to stay logged out of the CMS during the upgrade.
